A New Google/Yahoo Algorithm Finding

Okay this might not be so new to some people but I thought this might help some people gain some knowledge on google and yahoo’s Algorithm.

I always kept in mind that there was a link threshold of sorts but Exactly what that threshold is, is a pretty well kept secret. I did however discover something about the threshold that was very interesting over the past memorial day weekend. As it turns out google and yahoo spiders were not updating pages (or at least mine they weren’t). The reason why I know this is because I was checking my backlinks all weekend and they weren’t updated. It seemed kind of odd that they werent updating because normally we have about 25 people linking to us a day (on average). so the weekend (including memorial day monday) passes and I all of a sudden see us get hit with about 200 links at once. so naturally i think to myself ok all our links updated. At first i wasn’t even thinking about it up until i checked our ranking for a couple of keywords that we placed well for and seen that everyone of the keywords that we were placing for (that were in the 200 links that were posted on yahoo and google) we had been taken out of the search engines for completely. I mean we were not banned but the keywords that were in these 200 links were completely taken out of google and yahoo’s index. After 2 days of frustration we were again included in both index’s and placed in a way better position than we were ever placed in for these keywords.

you can call it a spike, a hiccup or any other name you wanna give it but maybe this will help some people understand where this algorithm stands. I am no mathematician but i do see however when our links crossed over 12 times the amount we usually get that the search engine algorithm went nuts.

I am hoping this might help some people out. I know that this is probably known by many but for the people who dont know this can be of use.

I personally know that there is a link threshold and that why i keep my link building at a moderate level. But up until tueday i really didnt know where that thrshold was. I Guess Now I Know.

thanks for reading… until next time.
cheers

I too have noticed this “spike” although it happens more often than you think. You get a good increase in links, suffer for it then get a better position than your original one.
