Questionable Tactics

This is something I want to ask the community in large their opinions on. The topic is, what do you do when you find another SEO practitioner who violated Google’s Code of Conduct for webmasters? The other heated point of discussion would be in the realm of paid link advertising. Finding a direct corrolation between a SEO company. Having proof that company soliciting & buying links.

Ok, we all know in the industry that buying links is a bad practice to engage in, if only because Google says not to. We also know that having links in bad nebhiorhoods can hurt someones pages, but, at the same time that hurt isn’t too bad since competitors would be doing it all over the industry.

But, the question is.. What happens when you find a SEO company that is directly soliciting links, with not a doubt to the authenticity of account to which it is being posted under? Should an ethical SEO company make a report to Google, so, they can ultimately make a decision on that type of conduct? After, all isn’t it the responsibility of us internet people to do a little house keeping of Google’s index when necessary? Report sites that are link farms & the like? So, why not report a SEO company that is engaging in buying links? Is it the same as buying a directory listing in Yahoo!, or, does it just do more harm than good?

I think that when you find results of such malice behavior, the ethical thing to do, is report it to Google. Then, allow Google to make the final call if a SEO company is in fact violating the ROC. Now, the larger question is, can a post with no mention of, “Looking to buy links for ******** with rel=’nofllow’ ” be looked at as, yes this link buyer is looking for a poromotional links? Maybe, I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt.. But, its difficult. So, its up to the community. Leave your messages, tell us what you think! We, do like to post comments back when questions & debates are started. So, feel free.

I hope to spark a interaction on this blog, so, please feel free post a note worthy post. If you decide to have a link in your ID, a rel=’dofollow’ will be provided to those who are one of the first 10. All comments will be reviewed and rewarded accordinly.
